Massive Undertaking

I have a confession to make. I am an addict. Cooking magazines are like meth to me. I have hundreds of them. Don’t get me wrong: I do throw them away….IF they don’t have recipes I use. The trouble is, almost every one of them has a recipe that I use. So. Since it’s raining non-stop, and because I really have nothing better to do, I have finally made the commitment to ditch them all. BUT. Not before transferring the relevant material to MacGourmet. That means that, for the next few months, I will be chained to my computer while I go totally digital in the kitchen. My goal is to get every one of my recipes out of the magazines, off of the internet (where no shit? I have a couple hundred more stored) and into my hard drive.
If you need me, I’ll be on the couch, typing.

  1. Good news - the new version of MacGourmet allows you to import directly from the websites. :)

  2. OCR scanning for the win.

Seriously, plop those pages down on a scanner, use an OCR program and the text will directly import to your computer.
