Thank you for sharing your story today on Portraits of Adoption. It is so helpful and hopeful to read successful adoption stories from others who have been there. The waiting is sooooooo hard. Thanks for writing about the "wait".

Isn't it amazing how chain hotels that are usually less than awesome in the states are stellar in other countries? I have not yet been to China, but I've done a Holiday Inn, Comfort Suites, and a Best Western in Europe that were amazing. Though I'll still take a Sheraton or Westin whenever I can. :)

Also, thanks for sharing this stuff, it is a very interesting read and a tad educational in the event my wife and I decide to adopt at some point down the line.

I remember what Jerry taught us -- yuan fen -- and it couldn't be more appropriate. I also laugh when I see the "appetizers". Just imagine how Jack would tear through tomatoes and bananas today!

That's beautiful, Merrin. I'm happy to know you. You always do make me smile.

On another note, I also ALWAYS wake up with a song in my head. The other day, it was, "Mambo #5". I have no clue where some of the songs come from.

Merrin,
Your blog was shared by Rhonda Layman mother of Robyn Pollman. My husband and I were called to adopt from China in 2005. When we started the process the wait was 6 months, we waited 33 months (paperwork in China). We started the paperwork in March 2005 and saw her beautiful face for the first time April 8, 2009 3 days shy of her 1st birthday. My oldest daughter and I traveled to China in June 2009 to pick up our daugther. I never get tired of reading or hearing of someone who has waited for SOOOOOOOOO LONG and then they get their child and the wait just disappears!!!!! We too have chosen to call it "Forever Family Day". I want to go back through your blog and read your journey when I have some time. The wait is ever so worth it!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
