Merrin – I read your post on 30 Days of Adoption, then I found your blog (which I hope you continue to find time for on occasion). Ripping the “adoptive” label off of Mom is a great thing and I am happy for you that you found yourself able to get there and to celebrate and acknowledge that you ARE mom. I am 17 years into this adventure called mom and my girl is a joy and wonder (and a teenager!). I am mom with all of the joys and struggles that it entails.
As we love Amelia Island, perhaps we will share a cupcake at PattyCakes and talk “mom stuff” one day. Check out http://www.wearingwingsagain.blogspot.com

Thank you for sharing your story today on Portraits of Adoption. It is so helpful and hopeful to read successful adoption stories from others who have been there. The waiting is sooooooo hard. Thanks for writing about the “wait”.

We really did luck out. I want to go back to Guangzhou just so Imcan stay there. And maybe eat at Pizza Hut. That was amazing.

Isn’t it amazing how chain hotels that are usually less than awesome in the states are stellar in other countries? I have not yet been to China, but I’ve done a Holiday Inn, Comfort Suites, and a Best Western in Europe that were amazing. Though I’ll still take a Sheraton or Westin whenever I can.

Also, thanks for sharing this stuff, it is a very interesting read and a tad educational in the event my wife and I decide to adopt at some point down the line.

I remember what Jerry taught us — yuan fen — and it couldn’t be more appropriate. I also laugh when I see the “appetizers”. Just imagine how Jack would tear through tomatoes and bananas today!

On another note, I also ALWAYS wake up with a song in my head. The other day, it was, “Mambo #5″. I have no clue where some of the songs come from.
